External Bed Light Switch Kit

Product Description

Gen5DIY has this switch kit available for those with the optional bed lighting kit.  This allows you to turn on your bed lights from outside the truck.  Waterproof switch will mount right inside the bed and is available in your choice of red, blue or green LED.  Power from the switch will come from your 7 pin trailer plug harness.

Works on 15-22 models, as well as 22-23 Refresh bodies with factory installed bed lights only.

Additional side note, not all trucks will illuminate all the lights as shown in the video.  The switch kit will definitely illuminate the bed lights on all models.  The wiring is the same on all models but for some reason not all trucks will illuminate the mirror lights and overhead cargo light.  We tend to see it more so on the 20+HD models

We recently learned that not each truck is wired the same, it is very strange that GM did this, but it appears they have.  Please follow the below installation instructions to install your switch kit

When you plug in the t-harness into your original bed light harness see if the black wire, on our harness,  is lined up with the black wire on the truck harness.  If it is than you are good to go with the install, connecting as follows

Spaded black wire will go to the brass post on the switch
Red spaded wire off of the t connector wire will go to the inside post and the yellow power wire that connects to the trailer connector will go to the outside post on the switch.

If the black wire is not lined up with the black wire then connect as follows.

Spaded red wire will go to the brass post on the switch
Black spaded from the t-connector wire will go to the center post and the yellow power wire that connects to the trailer connector will go to the outside post on the switch.

On some refresh wires the wire at the trailer connector may be orange

Video Install: (Note - we now use a cleaner circle switch to allow install to be smoother.)
